We're looking for an experienced policy professional to join our collaborative, tightknit team as an AO6 Senior Policy Officer in the Surveying Services team. This temporary, flexible position (until April 2026) will ideally be based in Brisbane, Toowoomba, Robina or Nambour with other operational policy team members.
Although other locations, including Cairns, Mackay, Townsville, Rockhampton, Bundaberg or Maryborough will also be considered. Discussions on part-time arrangements are welcomed, and there's a strong focus on mentoring, learning and professional development.
As part of our Surveying Services team, you'll shape policy that underpins the surveying industry across Queensland. From developing operational policy to supporting legislative amendments, this role balances independent work with team collaboration. You'll use your legal, policy or government process experience to support real-world outcomes that benefit both government and community. If you've got skills in legislation, policy development or operational improvement - especially in a statutory context - we want to hear from you.
Key responsibilities include:
• Working closely with the Principal Policy Officer to deliver policy and legislative reform projects
• Preparing briefings, forms and documentation required for department and government-level approvals
• Supporting the development of operational policies and improving internal processes for Surveying Services
• Drawing on your own strengths to contribute specialist knowledge to the team
• Using your high-level communication skills to collaborate with stakeholders across government and industry
