The Civil Litigation Team is searching for dynamic and experienced industrial relations lawyers to join our busy team. These lawyers will have a unique opportunity to work at the heart of government and to advise and represent the State in a broad range of industrial relations and employment disputes

Industrial Relations team

The Industrial Relations team has immediate vacancies for talented lawyers to provide advice and litigation services to Government regarding industrial and employment disputes, disciplinary investigations, unfair dismissals, claims of underpayment or other contraventions of entitlement provisions, bullying and other employment related claims including:

Advising public sector agencies on all stages of the employment lifecycle, including commencement of employment, capacity matters, entitlement claims, performance management, discipline, termination, bullying and contractor engagements.

Advising Ministers and CEOs through public sector agencies in relation to industrial disputes.

Advising office holders under the Industrial Relations Act with respect to their functions under that Act.

Advice in respect of administrative law and law reform.

Advice on management of media inquiries.

Drafting employment and contractor agreements, policies, procedures, Deeds, and pleadings.

Enterprise Agreement negotiation, enterprise order arbitration advising on interpretation of industrial instruments.

Managing and appearing in claims before the Industrial Magistrates Court, WA Industrial Relations Commission, and other State Courts, including unfair dismissal, damaging action and judicial review.

Contributing to internal learning and development initiatives, including CPD delivery.

Client Engagement: Maintain strong client relationships through responsive service, strategic advice, and practical solutions.

Key Requirements:

In depth experience in employment and workplace relations law

Solid experience advising employers on day-to-day workplace issues

Excellent drafting skills and attention to detail

Ability to manage files independently and meet deadlines

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-centric approach

Confidence in advocating for clients in the WA Industrial Relations Commission and other courts and tribunals (advocacy experience highly valued)
