Working within Manufacturing Skills Queensland (MSQ), you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation, safety, and maintenance of the Manufacturing Centre of Excellence (CoE) facility. This role plays a critical part in maintaining a safe, compliant, and efficient work environment that provides high-quality training and industry engagement activities.
What you will do
As a small, but growing organisation, a proactive, hands-on approach to get things done are essential requirements. The key duties and responsibilities of our Facilities Management Officer include:
Oversee the daily operational functions of the facility, including general maintenance, site inspections, repairs; and venue readiness ensuring facility requirements are met for all Centre activities.
Develop and implement maintenance schedules, service agreements, and preventive maintenance programs.
Ensure facilities, equipment, and infrastructure are maintained to a high standard and support operational efficiency; and coordinate any fit-outs or changes to infrastructure.
Ensure compliance with all Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) regulations, codes of practice, and relevant legislation, assisting with the development of plans, procedures, and policies.
Monitor service provider and contractor performance to ensure timely completion of assigned work in adherence with Centre policies and WHS requirements.
Manage facility-related procurement and asset registers, including consumables, tools and equipment, and repair services in alignment with MSQ policies and budget.
Provide advice and recommendations on operational enhancements, cost-efficiency measures, and capital upgrades.
Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders including staff, educators, partners, and contractors.
Who we are looking for
The competencies critical to the performance of a Facilities Management Officer:
Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks, schedules, and competing priorities, working autonomously and collaboratively within a small team environment.
Proactive, hands-on, and solutions-oriented approach with strong problem-solving, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with staff, contractors, service providers, and stakeholders.
Strong understanding of WHS legislation, emergency management, and operational compliance.
Experience managing building services and maintenance, contractors, service agreements, and operational budgets.
Proven experience in facilities management, operations management, or property services, preferably in an education, training, or manufacturing environment.
Practical proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and facilities management software.
Mandatory requirement - manual driver’s licence.
Desirable – First aid certificate and forklift licence.
