About This Opportunity
The Senior Facilities Officer role supports the Faculty's facilities and infrastructure portfolio, utilising both proactive and responsive asset management principles. This position is responsible for providing management, advice and support for refurbishment, new builds, building services and utilities, maintenance, user-funded work requests and a range of safety-related infrastructure activities. Whilst primarily based at the St Lucia campus, the role supports teaching, learning and research activities and assets across multiple sites.
The successful candidate will take a customer focused approach to communication and collaboration. Vital to the success of this role will be a positive working relationship with UQ Property & Facilities, suppliers and HSW staff at the School and Faculty level.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Asset Management: Optimise asset lifecycle and operational efficiency using BMS, manage faculty vehicles, and coordinate maintenance of specialised equipment.
- Facilities Management and Procurement: Coordinate Faculty maintenance operations, manage helpdesk data for decision-making, oversee infrastructure disruptions, reticulated gas supply, space access control, and minor works procurement.
- Project Coordination: Lead EAIT asset and facility projects, coordinate maintenance requests, and support infrastructure initiatives through project input and funding submissions.
- Safety-related Activities: Monthly safety and eyewash checks; test and tag program including ad hoc laptop tagging; involved in incident corrective actions.

About You
- Trade, technical, or scientific background with extensive multi-trade coordination experience, or relevant degree with equivalent training.
- Experienced in managing small facilities projects, including budgeting, procurement, and scope/funding documentation.
- Strong customer service focus with flexibility to perform varied operational tasks.
- Skilled in reading as-built drawings, HVAC designs, and technical documents to resolve complex issues.
- Effective communicator with the ability to explain technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently with sound judgement.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, MS Project, and general IT tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and understanding of infrastructure standards, legislation, and scientific requirements.
