About the Role
As a Safety and Quality Nurse Consultant, you’ll play a key leadership role in advancing high-quality, safe care across the Clinical Program (CP). Drawing on your consolidated nursing experience and passion for continuous improvement, you’ll support the development, implementation, and evaluation of systems that align practice with policy. Your work will contribute to a positive workplace culture and enhanced patient outcomes, with a focus on safety, risk management, quality improvement, and compliance with National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards.
In this role, you will manage a diverse portfolio that includes oversight of adverse incident reporting, clinical audits, mortality review reporting, performance indicator analysis, and accreditation readiness. You’ll work closely with CP leadership to guide the Safety and Quality plan, support clinical governance, and deliver expert advice on nursing practice and system reform. This is a dynamic opportunity to lead change, influence best practice, and contribute meaningfully to the ongoing reform and quality care within the Surgery program and broader CP.
About You
You’re a dynamic and experienced Nurse or Midwife with a passion for leading change and driving quality improvement in healthcare. With strong clinical knowledge, leadership experience, and a commitment to excellence, you are ready to take the next step in your professional journey.
Registered or eligible for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, holding (or eligible to hold) a current practising certificate.
Proven leadership and project management experience, with the ability to effectively lead change and drive quality improvement initiatives.
Strong communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to write reports, resolve conflict, and collaborate across teams.
In-depth understanding of NSQHS Standards, clinical governance, and contemporary nursing/midwifery practices within complex healthcare settings.
