About the role
As the Medical Scientist (MeS3) Scientific Manager of Haematology, you will lead within your specialist discipline, driving innovation and excellence across complex scientific operations. This role requires you to provide strategic direction and leadership, ensuring the professional discipline of delivers maximum value and effectiveness within the agency or health unit. Working under broad policy direction, you will determine operational priorities, establish high work standards, and optimise resource allocation to achieve organisational goals.
You will also mentor and coordinate a team of medical scientists and paraprofessionals, fostering a collaborative environment that supports professional growth and service delivery excellence. Drawing on your extensive experience and advanced knowledge, you will play a pivotal role in shaping scientific practice and contributing to improved health outcomes.
About You
To succeed in this role, you will be a highly skilled and proactive medical scientist with demonstrated expertise in leading complex laboratory operations. Your ability to motivate and develop staff, combined with advanced scientific knowledge, will ensure high-quality service delivery and innovation within the laboratory environment.
Key requirements:
Qualifications: A degree at AQF Level 7 (or equivalent) with >70% pathology-relevant subjects, or an equivalent qualification recognised by AIMS.
Leadership and Expertise: Proven ability to lead, mentor and develop staff, supported by extensive diagnostic laboratory experience and high-level scientific expertise.
Analytical and Organisational Skills: Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and time management skills with capacity to manage and optimise complex workflows.
Communication and Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
