About the role

Awana Care is seeking a passionate and caring Disability Support Worker to join our team in Palmerston, NT. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing compassionate and individualised support to our clients with various disabilities, helping them to live independently and achieve their personal goals. This is a casual position, offering the flexibility to work around your schedule.

What you'll be doing

Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, and household tasks

Support clients in accessing the community and participating in social and recreational activities

Advocate for clients' rights and needs, ensuring they receive the best possible care and support

Maintain accurate client records and documentation, adhering to all relevant policies and procedures

Actively participate in team meetings and training sessions to continually improve your skills and knowledge

Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic approach to client care

What we're looking for

A Certificate III in Individual Support (or equivalent) or a willingness to obtain this qualification

Previous experience (is essential but not mandatory) in a similar role, providing support to individuals with disabilities or complex needs

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with clients

A genuine passion for making a positive difference in the lives of people with disabilities

A flexible and adaptable approach, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment

A current driver's licence and access to a reliable vehicle (desirable)
