We are seeking passionate and animal-loving Cattery Attendants to join our team at our two cattery locations in Coburg North and Port Melbourne. In this casual role, you will be responsible for providing exceptional care and attention to our feline guests, ensuring their comfort and wellbeing during their stay with us. With a focus on animal welfare, this position is integral to maintaining the high standards of our boutique catteries.

At The Cat Motel and Cat Camp, we’ve built a reputation for providing boutique, personalised care to Melbourne’s feline family members. With nearly two decades of experience and two purpose-built facilities, we pride ourselves on delivering a safe, calm, and enriching stay for every guest — all housed in their own private suite.

About the Role

This is a casual position requiring availability on weekends, public holidays, and school holiday periods. You will work across both locations, providing high-quality care and support to our feline guests and their humans.

Key Responsibilities

Carrying out daily husbandry tasks: feeding, medicating, enrichment, and caring for cats as per their individual requirements

Cleaning and maintaining areas to the highest hygiene standards

Observing and monitoring cat health, behaviour, and wellbeing

Administering medications according to instructions

Receiving and checking in guests

Providing compassionate and professional customer service

Processing bookings, payments, and managing enquiries

Working independently during quiet shifts and with a small team during peak times

Contributing to the general upkeep of the facility

About You

You’re confident, reliable, and have a deep respect for animals — especially cats. You’re not afraid of hard work and enjoy being hands-on in a physically active role. You also communicate clearly, stay calm under pressure, and treat every cat and customer with care and professionalism.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Previous experience in an animal care, shelter, or veterinary setting (essential)

Certificate II in Animal Studies (or equivalent practical experience)

Confidence handling cats, including shy or reactive individuals

Excellent communication and time management skills

Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed procedures

A current Victorian Driver’s Licence and reliable car (essential)

Physical stamina to work on your feet, bend, lift, and move for several hours at a time

Availability for weekends, public holidays, and school holiday periods
