Our Client, a large Federal Government Department is seeking to engage with a Senior ICT Technical Specialist to oversee the technical delivery of the departments Major Infrastructure Programs Section within the Digital Services Division (DSD).

The Major Infrastructure Programs section is under a large capital refresh program which aims to maintain the technology environment and reduce severe departmental risk. ICT Technical Specialists are required to lead the Infrastructure workstream and deliver individual projects within the program. The objectives of this workstream are to replace end-of-life infrastructure hardware, uplift operating system and database layer software to the latest endorsed versions, consolidate duplicate wholesale services, and standardise similar technologies.

Key duties and responsibilities:

• Developing and documenting strategies for the replacement/upgrade of End of Life and End of Support items including discovery, analysis, recommendation, and migration;
• Developing and documenting strategies to remediate key infrastructure risks;
• Lead technical planning and delivery of the project in accordance with the program outcomes, including managing technical dependencies;
• Lead technical resources on the program to capture key program artefacts, including scope, timeframes, budget, risks and issues.
• Provide technical assurance and partner with multiple vendors, to deliver outcomes under tight timeframes.
• Ensure compliance with the relevant governance arrangements associated with delivery of the department’s ICT projects.
• Maintaining currency and subject matter expertise through ongoing professional development and learning opportunities outside the formal education process.
  

Essential Criteria:

• Demonstrated experience with a broad range of infrastructure technologies, including (but not limited to): Azure cloud (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) | Linux/Unix and Windows servers and databases | ICT services including DNS, NTP, AD, PKI, Microsoft Exchange, monitoring, logging, automation/CICD, and VDI technologies;
• Extensive experience working in Federal Government;
• Ability to adapt/work across agile and waterfall methodologies;
• At least 5 years’ experience as a Technical Specialist working within technology, networks and/or infrastructure projects;
• Knowledge of or experience implementing ISM and Essential 8 controls;
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including clear and effective facilitation and presentation skills and the ability to produce clear and concise written materials.
