We're currently seeking a Senior AWS Cloud Engineer to join a Federal Government department on a 6-month contract with potential extension. This role is based in Canberra and requires an active Baseline Security Clearance.

You will play a key role in designing and maintaining secure, scalable, and efficient AWS cloud infrastructure in line with government frameworks, while providing SME-level support across APS projects.

Key Responsibilities

Design, deploy, and manage AWS infrastructure (EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, VPCs).

Implement and enforce cloud security policies aligned with ISM controls.

Conduct audits, vulnerability assessments, and regular security reviews.

Support APS projects leveraging AWS hosting services with SME guidance and documentation.

Provide technical leadership and mentor internal teams.

Monitor, optimise, and ensure high availability of cloud environments.

Required Skills & Experience

Proven experience designing and maintaining AWS cloud environments.

Strong understanding of Government security and operational frameworks.

Infrastructure as Code expertise (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible).

Deep knowledge of DevOps and cloud architecture best practices.

Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and orchestration tools.

Familiar with CI/CD pipelines, IAM, DevSecOps, and scripting.

Exposure to Microsoft DevOps, Jenkins, Git, and ELK stack.

Desirable Skills

AWS AI tools experience (e.g., Bedrock).

Azure cloud services exposure.

AWS Certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer).

Scripting skills (Python, Shell, PowerShell).

Cloud migration project experience.

Experience working in Agile delivery teams.
