JBP Law is a Parramatta based boutique law firm focused on criminal law. We provide initial onboard training to junior staff and ongoing training and mentorship to all employees. JBP Law has worked on some of most highly notable cases that have made national headlines and even global headlines.

General tasks and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Liaising with appropriate stakeholders depending on the task, including but not limited to: registry staff, police, police prosecutors, DPP, CDPP, Counsel, Senior Counsel, clients, family members of clients, banks etc.
• Attendances at Local Courts, District Courts and higher courts for various matters including but not limited to interlocutory applications, sentence hearings, defended hearings, bail applications, section 14 applications, driving appeals, trials.
• Providing written and oral advice, managing assigned cases and reporting to Principal Solicitor.
• Providing oral advice and communicating with clients.
• Communicating with prospective clients.
• Documenting work flow and processes.
• Briefing counsel and senior counsel in serious criminal matters.

The candidate:

• Must be admitted with a practising certificate with 3 years PQE minimum. University students need not apply.
• Experience in litigation, particularly criminal litigation is preferred. Any advocacy experience is favoured.
• The ideal candidate is able to autonomously speak to prospective clients and existing clients. Work ethic should be evidently visible to reflect and demonstrate that ability.
• A driver's licence and vehicle is preferred as you will be travelling to various different courts.

Although the firm has a criminal law focus, there are other areas of the firm which will require the candidate to have an the ability to adapt to other legal areas with a proven track record of doing so.
