Classification Grade: Legal Officer Grade V (LOG V)
Salary: LOG V $154,403 - $157,430 p.a. base salary (with superannuation and annual leave loading paid in addition to the base salary)
Work type: Full-Time – 35 hours per week, 24 months with a possibility of extension or conversion to ongoing. Part-time applications will also be considered.
Location: Our primary place of work is the CSO Office located at 60-70 Elizabeth Street, Sydney.
We also support flexible working arrangements.
*Please note we will be relocating to a new premises located at Parkline Place, 252 Pitt Street, Sydney in July 2026.
About the Role
We are seeking a Senior Solicitor V to join our Torts Justice/Enforcement Agencies Practice Group within the Civil Law & Commercial Strategy Division. This is a leadership opportunity to be a key member of a dynamic and accomplished legal team supporting the NSW Government.
We encourage applications from candidates with a minimum of four years’ post-admission experience and demonstrated expertise in civil litigation, especially in defending claims involving intentional torts, law enforcement actions and justice agencies. Experience in historical abuse cases, group representative proceedings will be highly regarded.
Senior Solicitor V applicants must demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, including the ability to supervise junior solicitors and paralegals. We are building a talent pool to fill immediate and future vacancies. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
About You
As a Senior Solicitor LOG V, you will represent NSW Government agencies in high-profile and complex civil litigation across a range of courts and tribunals. You will provide expert legal advice and advocacy in matters involving intentional torts, law enforcement liability, group representative (class action) proceedings and historical abuse cases.
You will take on leadership responsibilities, managing your own legal practice, offering strategic advice on complex legal issues and mentoring junior solicitors. To succeed in this role, you will need proven litigation experience, strong legal analysis and drafting skills and a collaborative, client-focused approach.

The Torts Justice & Enforcement Agencies Practice Group specialises in all aspects of the defence and settlement of civil claims, with a particular focus on intentional torts involving law enforcement and justice agencies.

Essential requirements
· Law degree from an accredited institution or Legal Practitioners Admission Board's Diploma in Law
· Admitted or eligible for admission as a legal practitioner in NSW
· Extensive experience in providing advice and representation in complex legal matters, particularly in areas relevant to the Torts Service & Regulatory Agencies Practice Group
