About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Light Vehicle Mechanic to join our team at Darkys Mechanical Services' in Darwin, Northern Territory. This is a full-time FIFO (Fly-In Fly-Out) role servicing all remote communities in East Arnhem Land, offering an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and challenging environment.

This role is based in Darwin working under our Remote Service Manager who is also based in Darwin, you will be working in East Arnhem land remote communities servicing the local Government/service providers vehicles and machinery. Variety in the day-to-day jobs some swings but also working autonomously other days carrying out scheduled servicing.

What you'll be doing

Diagnose, repair and maintain a variety of light vehicles, including cars, 4WDs, light commercial vehicles and light construction machines

Conduct scheduled preventative maintenance checks and services

Liaise with customers to understand and address their vehicle concerns

Maintain detailed records of all work performed

Ensure workshop tools and equipment are well-maintained and used safely

Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment

What we're looking for

Qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic with a minimum of 3 years' experience

Strong technical skills and knowledge of vehicle diagnostics and repair

Highly Self motivated

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote setting

Excellent communication and customer service skills

Willingness to work a FIFO roster and travel to remote communities

Current driver's license and clean driving record

Relevant trade qualifications or certificates

Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent trade qualification required

Experience in or willingness to work on light earthmoving equipment

Experience in or willingness to work on power generation plants

Experience in or willingness to learn Electrical diagnostics and repair

Experience in or willingness to learn Hydraulic diagnostics and repair

Must possess a comprehensive set of professional mechanical tools suitable for light vehicle servicing

Ability to pass pre-employment medical assessment and regular drug/alcohol screening

Must have permanent Australian work rights or appropriate visa

Ability to obtain and maintain a current National Police Clearance
