Coonamble Aboriginal Health Service (CAHS) is seeking an enthusiastic person to fill the position of Alcohol and Other Drugs Worker (AOD). This role will work closely with the clinical team in the delivery of primary health care and reports to the Practice Manager.
Alcohol and Other Drugs Workers play a vital role in the primary health workforce. They provide clinical and primary health care for individuals and families. They deal with patients, clients and visitors and are responsible for delivering a Therapeutic model of care. They also assist in arranging, coordinating and providing health care within the Coonamble and surrounding Communities. The Alcohol and Other Drugs Worker will undergo continuous training to fulfil this role.
NOTE: This is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identified position authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW.
1. Key Selection Criteria
· Proof of Aboriginality or Torres Strait Islander (NB: applicants race is a genuine occupational qualification and is authorised by Section 14 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977, NSW)
· Certificate III in Community Work and/or Certificate IV in Alcohol and other Drugs;
Or Willing to undertake training towards Certificate III in Community Work.
· Demonstrated effective communication skills
· Demonstrated ability to build rapport with patients
· Knowledge and experience using Best Practice appointment system
2. Additional Requirements
· Current “Cleared” Working with Children Check
· Current Class C Driver’s Licence
· Current Australian National Criminal History Check
· Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
· Proof of vaccination must be provided upon commencement of appointment
Remuneration and Benefits
· Attractive remuneration based on qualifications and experience plus a monthly RDO.
