Pathways Monaro is part of Directions Health Services, an innovative, non-profit organisation that has provided specialist alcohol and other drug (AOD) services in the ACT and NSW for over 40 years. Today, we at Directions offer holistic AOD, mental health and primary health services that aim to reduce harms experienced by individuals, families, and communities, and improve overall health and wellbeing. Directions’ multidisciplinary team currently includes a psychiatrist, psychologist, social workers, counsellors, Aboriginal health workers, peer and other support workers, GPs, registered nurses, pharmacists and chemical analysts. Directions’ capacity to implement innovative services developed in collaboration with our clients, partners, and other stakeholders, enables us to effectively respond to the changing needs of the communities we serve.

Pathways Monaro consists of a small team based in Cooma, NSW (Ngarigo land). Pathways Monaro offers clients a range of community-based services as well as treatment and support services including counselling and case management.
The Position
As an AOD Support Worker with Pathways Monaro, you’ll play a vital role in supporting individuals on their recovery journey. Working closely with our AOD Case Managers, you'll help clients achieve their goals by providing hands-on support, encouragement, and opportunities to build practical life skills that promote lasting change.
This role is fixed term full-time position with part-time hours negotiable for the right applicant.
Responsibilities:
Provide practical, client-centred support to Pathways Monaro clients in an integrated and collaborative manner
Provide clear and accurate information regarding Directions programs to clients
Always maintain client confidentiality and appropriate boundaries
Attend to any reporting requirements including case notes and statistical data entry
Liaise with other stakeholders including both government and non-government organisations to assist to develop resources, supports and programs which will benefit our clients
Participate in ongoing quality improvement and safety framework

What we would like you to have:
Cert IV Qualification in AOD and/or experience in Alcohol, Tobacco and other Drugs work or working towards a qualification
Proficient in using the Microsoft Office suite of applications and ability to utilise Client Information Management Systems (CIMS) for case notes and data input.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, combined with a proactive and hands-on attitude
A compassionate understanding of the issues clients may experience
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with minimum supervision in a small flexible team environment
An understanding of the principles of harm minimisation and trauma-informed practice
A thorough understanding of the importance of personal and professional boundaries, ethical behaviour, policies and procedures
Australian Citizenship or suitable rights to work in Australia
A current Driver’s Licence
All appointments will be conditional upon having a NSW Working with Children Check, current First Aid and CPR certificate, and a satisfactory National Police Check.
