Are you an experienced Project Administrator or Coordinator looking to join a dynamic engineering consultancy?

Paragon Engineering is seeking a proactive and organised individual to act as a key interface between our internal design teams and external stakeholders. This role requires someone with strong organisational skills, a deep understanding of basic design principles, and experience coordinating across interdisciplinary teams such as geotechnical, drafting, and structural design.

We are a Specialist Engineering Consultancy Firm operating across Australia and servicing the infrastructure and building sectors with a focus on structural design for ground structures, foundations, shoring & temporary structures and structural assessment of bridges & associated infrastructure assets. Our client base includes local authorities, infrastructure asset managers and construction companies. We provide a range of services from structural & geotechnical design, infrastructure asset condition assessment; project management; structural & vibration monitoring.

The Role:

Due to continued growth, we are searching for a Design Manager to join our team in a newly created role—offering the opportunity to shape internal systems, streamline processes, and make an impact on project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Liaise between internal teams (design, geotechnical, structural) and external stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables and ensure that client requirements are translated into designs.
  • Coordinate project schedules and track progress, ensuring adherence to delivery timelines as well as attending project meetings and providing updates on project milestones.
  • Conduct inspections and assessments of infrastructure assets, including bridges and wastewater facilities, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Prepare detailed inspection/condition assessment reports, analysis, and recommendations based on findings.
  • Oversee control of all project documents, including sharing emails, progress reports and technical documentation.
  • Monitor project budgets and invoicing, reporting on financial performance to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Assist with project compliance and quality assurance across various disciplines.

Requirements

About You

To be considered for the role, you must have

  • 4+ years of experience as a Project Engineer or Co-ordinator within a design office or consultancy environment within Australia, preferably involving infrastructure assets and/or multidisciplinary projects. More experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • A degree in Civil/Structural Engineering recognised by Engineers Australia.
  • Strong knowledge of basic design principles, especially in structural and/or geotechnical projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to facilitate effective communication among project teams, clients, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment and stakeholder satisfaction.
  • Strong organisational and switchtasking abilities, ensuring that all project documentation is up-to-date and deadlines are met.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to addressing technical challenges.
  • Strong technical reporting skills as well as knowledge of Engineering and Drafting software
  • Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel, and project management software.
