We are a privately owned, successful construction company working with a range of developers to build high-density townhouse developments all over Melbourne. With a focus on providing outstanding customer service and a quality product, we have experienced solid growth and envision this continuing.

We’re looking to establish a dedicated HR function within the business to provide ongoing support to our management team. Working in collaboration with our strategic HR Consultant partners, this new role will take ownership of the day-to-day operational HR needs.

We are open to shaping the role around the right person, whether that’s a full-time opportunity for someone early in their career OR a part-time position for a more experienced professional. We welcome a conversation around suitable hours and remuneration for those with significant HR experience.

About the role:

Manage all onboarding, offboarding, and probation reviews

Assist managers with performance issues and provide advice

Assist managers with all recruitment needs, including writing and posting ads, shortlisting, conducting initial interviews, and reference checks

Design, implement, and manage a graduate program

Coordinating employment contacts through our HR partner

Managing office based OH&S issues and assisting with any Work Cover claims, and acting as the company RTW coordinator

Reviewing and updating workplace policies

Recommending best practice HR initiatives for the business to consider/adopt

Monitor and update staff licenses

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will:

Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role

Have a qualification in human resources

Demonstrate a sound understanding of general HR best practices

Demonstrate your initiative in making recommendations and changes

Have excellent general administrative and computer skills

Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships across the business

Demonstrate the ability to exercise discretion and sensitivity with confidential issues
