We're building something special and we’re looking for a Sous Chef who’s ready to step into a leadership role where calm efficiency, beautiful food, and great systems matter just as much as flavour.
This role is part of the Midday team - our nourishing, modern corporate catering arm - focused on batch-prepped lunches that feel fresh, seasonal, and intentional.
You’ll be based in Sydney and working directly with our Head Chef to lead prep flow, mentor junior staff, and ensure every meal that leaves our kitchen meets our standard.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Part-time position, Monday to Friday with occasional weekend events
Lead daily prep across Midday menu items: grains, proteins, dressings, salads, and hot components
Oversee a small team of commis and casual prep chefs
Manage ordering, stock control, and food safety systems
Ensure portioning, packaging, and plating all meet brand standards
WHO YOU ARE
You’re calm under pressure and organised by nature
You’ve got 2+ years experience as a Sous Chef or strong CDP in high-volume kitchens, catering, hotels or cafes
You’re confident leading prep teams and running the kitchen when needed
You know your way around costings, wastage, ordering, and quality control
You genuinely care about food - the flavour and the presentation
An advantage if:
You’ve worked in a catering environment
You’ve led casual teams and trained junior chefs
