Rate: $65.00 Per Hour + Super
Duration: ASAP start to 19 December 2025
Hours: 40 hours/week
Work Model: Hybrid – in-office on Wednesdays and Fridays
About the Opportunity
Transport for NSW is seeking a Network and Safety Officer to join the Greater Sydney Planning and Programs team. This role offers a chance to contribute to impactful transport safety outcomes, supporting network efficiency and road safety across Sydney.
This is a short-term backfill role due to staff currently seconded to acting positions. You’ll step into a critical role in a fast-paced team delivering high-quality safety assessments and solutions across the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct traffic, safety and land use development investigations, audits, and technical assessments.
- Provide expert network management advice to councils and internal stakeholders.
- Represent Transport at council traffic and development committees.
- Deliver timely and considered responses to stakeholder queries.
- Apply project management skills to support program delivery targets.
- Collaborate across precincts to ensure a consistent approach to traffic and safety management.
Essential Requirements
- Road and traffic safety investigations and audits.
- Developing practical solutions to complex network management challenges.
- Mentoring and coaching peers in technical disciplines.
- Tertiary qualification in traffic engineering or a related discipline, OR equivalent professional experience.
- Demonstrated experience in:
- Deep understanding of network management policies and technical standards.

- Delivering accurate and timely advice in a complex, evolving policy environment.
- Communicating effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders.
