About the Role:

As a Workplace Relations Specialist, you'll play a key role in providing expert guidance and leadership on all employee relations (ER) and industrial relations (IR) matters. You'll work closely with leaders across Council to proactively manage performance, conflict, risk, and change.

What You'll Be Doing:

Provide technical advice and support on all ER/IR matters

Lead or assist with investigations, disciplinary issues, and employee complaints

Support leaders with performance management, conflict resolution, and risk mitigation

Liaise with unions, legal advisors, and external investigators

Deliver ER/IR-related training and build management capability

Coordinate and maintain HR systems, registers, and documentation

Contribute to strategic HR planning, enterprise agreement negotiations, and continuous improvement initiatives

What We're Looking For:

Mandatory:

Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources Management or relevant equivalent experience

Sound understanding of HR practices and employment legislation

Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict-resolution skills

High-level computer and administrative capability

Proven discretion, integrity, and professionalism

Queensland ‘C’ class driver’s licence

Highly Desirable:

Experience working within Local Government
