The Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated Digital Marketing and Communication Officer to join our Office of the CEO Team in Kununurra to assist in providing quality communications, marketing and governance services and support to and on behalf of the Shire and identifying opportunities in the area of marketing for the organisation. The role will also provide support generally as and when required within the Office of the CEO Team as directed. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage all social media platforms
    - Curating content/campaigns with different departments within the organisation
    - Monitor trends and insights, engaging with community in a a positive and proactive manner
    - Develop and implement social media campaign to increase community engagement and awareness of Shire activities and events
  • Support Communication Strategy Implementation
    - Collaborate with the Senior Marketing and Communication Officer to create and distribute communication materials, including newsletter, press release and promotional content
    - Execute the Shire’s communication strategy, ensuring alignment with organisation goals and community needs and help organise and promote community event, ensuring effective communications with all stakeholders
  • Together with the Community Development and Events Officer - organising and managing special events and ceremonies held by the Shire
  • Processing filming and photography applications, drafting permits where required for CEO approval
  • Developing relationships with all customers, media and key stakeholders
  • Promptly attending to customer enquiries in a courteous and effective manner
  • Assisting the Executive Officer to the CEO as required with meetings and events relating to Council and the CEO including but not limited to Ordinary, Special Council and Committee Meetings
  • Providing relief to the Executive Officer to the CEO role during periods of leave/absences

A minimum of Certificate IV in Marketing and Communication, qualification in Journalism or similar, National Police Clearance (within the last 6 months), and current unrestricted WA Driver Licence are essential for this role.

You will also need to have:

  • 2 years' industry experience in a similar role
  • Proficiency in using social media platforms and tools as well as in Microsoft Word and Adobe Creative Cloud (Particularly Indesign and Photoshop)
  • Sound understanding of maintaining websites, Facebook and other online media channel plus ability to identify media opportunities
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in liaising with a range of stakeholders and ability to maintain strong and productive relationships
