A bit about the role
As our Conservation Projects Officer, you’ll be at the heart of delivering important conservation projects across our region. You’ll work closely with the Bunurong Land Council Aboriginal Corporation and other key partners to drive meaningful change, from restoring habitats to fostering community involvement.
What you’ll deliver:
This is your chance to:
- Coordinate and deliver conservation projects—from planning and GIS mapping to reporting and managing grants
- Deliver the Peri-Urban Weed Management Program (DEECA-funded), from inception to reporting
- Build strong partnerships with external stakeholders, including traditional owners, Melbourne Water, DEECA, other Councils, and local community groups.
- Support the delivery of volunteer programs—engaging corporate groups, schools, and the wider community in hands-on conservation.
- Support educational programs including school holiday programs and “Friends Of” groups.
- Promote biodiversity by helping deliver key actions from our Biodiversity Strategy.
What You’ll Bring
We’re looking for someone who is a great communicator who can inspire, educate and lead with a knack for reporting and compliance.
Other skills:
- Qualified in Conservation and Ecosystem Management (or related field), or has equivalent hands-on experience
- Skilled in native plant identification and Ecological Vegetation Classes.
- Experienced in delivering conservation projects with diverse partners and volunteers
- Project Management
- Experience in grant writing and reporting
- Current Employee Working with Children Check
- Current Victorian Drivers license
