Here is what you can expect to be doing day to day when you join our fun, friendly & inclusive team!

Job Description:

Monitor squid stock behaviour and physical condition daily to detect early signs of stress, injury, or infectious disease development.

Conduct routine sampling and testing of water parameters to ensure optimal conditions for squid health, growth, and reproductive success.

Identify symptoms of common squid diseases and assist with implementing appropriate health management and biosecurity response protocols.

Assess feeding patterns, adjust rations, and evaluate feed-to-growth efficiency to reduce waste and maximize squid nutritional intake.

Support selective breeding activities by maintaining environmental control, handling broodstock, and recording spawning success and larval development rates.

Collect biological and environmental data from squid culture systems and analyse it to optimize husbandry practices and stock management decisions.

Monitor and evaluate temperature, salinity, dissolved oxygen, and other parameters to ensure favourable conditions for squid development and survival.

Assist in laboratory sample collection and microscopic analysis to detect pathogens impacting squid, aiding in timely treatment and prevention.

Inspect harvested squid for quality indicators like texture, size, and freshness to maintain premium standards in calamari processing operations.

Advise farm operators on innovative squid rearing, harvesting, and processing techniques to improve output quality and operational sustainability.

Provides technical support to Aquaculture Farmers and Fisheries Scientists

Maintains and repairs equipment and infrastructure in aquaculture facilities

The employer will offer:

A full-time contract on annual salary between $ 85,000 - $ 95,000 depending on qualification skills and experience in addition, the compulsory super contribution as applicable.
