About Ku-ring-gai Council

About the role

Council is seeking a qualified and experienced Development Assessment & Duty Planner to join our dynamic team and play a vital role in delivering high-quality planning outcomes that reflect the values and expectations of our community.

Reporting to the Team Leader Development Assessment, your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Undertake assessment and reporting of development applications
  • Ensure all DA reports are accurate, complete, and meet legislative and policy requirements
  • Provide timely and expert advice to the public and stakeholders in person, via phone and by correspondence
  • Investigate complaints and prepare responses and reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure all actions align with environmental legislation and Council’s environmental policies
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of planning processes

Qualifications, Skills & experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Town Planning, Building Surveying or a related discipline
  • Experience in statutory planning, development control, and environmental assessment
  • Comprehensive understanding of development assessment procedures and relevant planning legislation (eg Environmental Planning & Assessment Act)
  • Current Class C Drivers Licence
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality service to the community
  • High level of computer literacy, including planning software and Microsoft Office suite
