We are seeking a responsible and proactive First Aid Safety Officer to ensure the health and safety of all personnel on-site. The ideal candidate will be trained in first aid and capable of responding quickly and effectively to medical emergencies, while also promoting a culture of safety. You will be required to deliver a consistent and standardised approach to Safety & Risk Management, promote and implement Safety programs that are consistent, effective, efficient and aligned to business strategy and values. Provide advice to the operations team on the development and implementation of Safety systems, protocols and initiatives that will contribute to the achievement of the business strategy.

You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to assess risks, identify hazards, and implement effective control measures to mitigate potential incidents, as well as look after the welfare of our employees.

Knowledge & skills required:

· Implement and champion the Health & Safety Management System (HSMS)

· Ensure all standards and legislative requirements outside of the HSMS System are complied with and understood where required.

· Conduct internal audits of policies & procedures contained within the HSMS in line with practices & legislative requirements.

· Reporting of any non-compliance of HSMS system, policies and procedures contained in the HSMS, standards or legislative requirements, with supporting corrective actions.

· Facilitate and attend OH&S meetings every 3 months

· Investigate safety matters, incidents and injuries in a timely and effective manner, providing clear corrective actions.

· Demonstrable knowledge and application of front line first aid techniques.

· Current nursing, paramedic or first aid qualifications experience would be highly regarded.

· Experience in managing RTW / rehabilitation programs.

Qualifications:

· Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. OH&S, Loss Control, Risk Management, etc.)

· Solid working knowledge of legislation, regulations, codes of practice, best practices, industry standards, etc.

· Excellent written and verbal communications skills critical

· Negotiation, influencing & consultative skills

· Intermediate word & excel capability

· Undertake front line first aid and RTW activities.

· Delivery of drug and alcohol testing program, employee welfare programs and pre-employment processes.

Experience required:

· Min 5 years leading safety initiatives across a blue collar, manufacturing site.

· Previous meat industry experience would be advantageous.
