Cheema Family Farms is involved in harvesting and selling produce. A section of their land is certified under National Standard for Biodynamic and Organic Produce and is devoted to cultivation of organic garlic and pumpkin. Conventional production of annual crops like cabbage, lettuce, wombok and grey pumpkin is practiced on the other section.

Description: About the role
Cheema Family Farms is searching for enthusiastic Agriculture Technician to work within the large-scale farm, located in Hay, NSW. As Agriculture Technician, you will provide the Farm Manager technical support in areas of production, servicing, marketing and advanced agriculture technology. You will assist with growing produce, while complying with WHS legislation requirements.
You will be working with the farms at 342 Russell St, Hay South, New South Wales 2711.
Skills and Experiences:
At least three years of relevant experience or formal qualifications with at least one year of relevant experience.
The ideal candidate will possess the following competencies:
· Examining topographical, physical, and soil characteristics of farmland to determine the best land use and identify nutrient deficiencies
· Assisting in developing new planting, fertilizing, harvesting, and crop processing methods for optimal land use
· Identifying harmful pathogens, insects, parasites, fungi, and weeds, and helping devise control strategies
· Examining environmental and other factors that affect crop growth, health, and production
· Analysing produce to establish and maintain quality standards
· Monitoring crops to assess the effectiveness of feed formulations
· Participating in controlled breeding experiments to develop improved crop and livestock strains
· Offering advice, training, and technical support on technology solutions like sensors, farm management software, data analytics, and robotics
· Installing, programming, testing, repairing, and maintaining crop health monitoring equipment
· Developing, operating, and maintaining advanced technological systems for farm production, including analysing data and preparing reports
· Applying geospatial and other technology systems to support primary production, such as automatic tractor guidance systems, variable rate chemical applications, and surveying equipment
· Arranging the supply of drugs, vaccines, and chemicals to farmers and providing advice on their use
· Collecting and compiling data for research purposes
· May advise producers on farming techniques, management practices, and production processes
