About the Team:
The Worker Regulation Team monitors the obligations of aged care workers and providers to ensure compliance with the Code of Conduct and other worker regulations. They engage in targeted supervision to assess risk and non-compliance, ensuring providers effectively manage risks and return to compliance. The team responds to risks in a timely and risk-proportionate manner, taking appropriate actions to address concerns and prevent harm to older people, while also delivering campaign activities as commissioned by the Sector Risk Committee.
About the Role
As the Director, Risk Based Monitoring (Worker Regulation) you will lead geographically dispersed Risk Based Monitoring teams, which are responsible for preventative and responsive monitoring of provider and worker risks to safeguard and protect older Australians receiving aged care services. As a delegate of the Commissioner, you may make regulatory decisions to ensure proportionate management of identified provider and worker non-compliance.
Position Duties:
- Collaborate with the Executive Director, Senior Director, and other Directors to provide strategic leadership, direction and support staff working in a fast-paced, high workload environment during a period of change.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the Commission to implement the organisation’s priorities, deconfliction of activities, uphold the integrity of regulatory decisions and promote consistency of regulatory practices.
- Provide strategic leadership and management of geographically dispersed teams of Risk Based Monitoring Assistant Directors and Inspectors to undertake preventative and responsive monitoring of provider and worker risks ensuring tasks are managed and aligned with organisational priorities and performance expectations.
- Lead the monitoring of provider accountability for workforce quality and compliance with the Aged Care Code of Conduct while supporting sector education to embed compliance expectations and drive continuous improvement.
- Oversee, quality control and continuous improvement of the section in its exercise of delegated regulatory powers and evidence-based decision making, ensuring compliance with regulatory objectives, relevant legislation, and the Regulatory Operating Model.
- Lead and support staff by fostering a high performing, collaborative team culture that encourages staff wellbeing, continuous improvement and professional growth. Promote a safe and inclusive workplace, ensuring team members are equipped to engage respectfully and effectively with diverse communities.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support collaborative regulation, enhance sector confidence in the Commission’s role, and represent the Commission in relevant forums, working groups, and inter-agency initiatives.
Position Details:
Salary offered will be between $141,487 - $167,513 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.
Roles are offered on an Ongoing/Non-Ongoing basis, with Non-Ongoing roles offered for an initial period of up to 12 months, with the possibility of one extension up to an additional 12 months.
