About the Opportunity
Centacare North Queensland is seeking a full-time Manager to lead both its Family and Community Counselling Service (FCCS) and Employee Assistance Program (EAP), based in Townsville, QLD. Reporting to the Director of Client Services, this is a key leadership role that combines service oversight, contract management, and stakeholder engagement. You will guide a collaborative team delivering Individual, Family Counselling and provide Employee Assistance Program services to businesses and organisations within the North Queensland region.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Providing strategic and operational leadership across individual, family, and employee counselling services, including business development and contract oversight
Building strong relationships with employers, community partners, and local networks to grow EAP service reach
Managing and developing a high-performing team of qualified practitioners
Monitoring program performance in line with funding agreements and compliance requirements
Coordinating critical incident response and surge support as required
Supporting practice quality and consistency across regional locations including Mount Isa, Mackay, Charters Towers, Burdekin, and Ingham
Collaborating with senior leaders on service improvement, reporting, and strategic initiatives
Promoting staff well-being and professional growth across the team
Maintaining clear documentation and contributing to audits, reviews, and continuous improvement processes

About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll hold a degree in Psychology, Social Work, or a related field, along with significant leadership experience in a counselling, EAP, or social service setting.
The ideal candidate will also demonstrate:
Strong understanding of government funding contracts and reporting requirements
Experience developing staff and managing multidisciplinary teams
Knowledge of short-term counselling frameworks and EAP service models
Clear, confident communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Professional alignment with the Family Law Act and the standards of the Attorney-General’s Department
A values-based leadership style that fosters team wellbeing and ethical practice
Willingness to travel to regional sites such as Mount Isa, Mackay, Charters Towers, Burdekin, and Ingham
You must hold or be eligible to obtain:
A current open driver’s licence
A current Working with Children Blue Card and Disability Services Clearance
