About the role

Companion House, a leading provider of services in the Canberra region, is seeking a dedicated Counsellor/Social Worker to join our team on a part-time basis. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for managing the intake process, wait list management, and delivering short-term counselling and intervention services to our diverse client base in the Cook ACT 2614 area.

What you'll be doing

Conduct comprehensive intake assessments to understand clients' needs and determine appropriate support services

Manage and triage the counselling wait list to ensure timely access to our services

Provide psycho - education and to clients which address a range of psycho social concerns

Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and case notes

Collaborate with the broader multidisciplinary team and broader service sector to address needs

Participate in regular supervision and professional development activities

What we're looking for

Degree qualification in Social Work, or a related field.

Proven experience in a similar role, providing intake, wait-list management, and short-term intervention.

Strong assessment and intervention skills including ability to provide psycho education and advocacy.

High level knowledge of local service sectors and referral points.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and work collaboratively with clients, partners and colleagues.

High level cross cultural skills.
