The position requires someone who loves being outdoors, understands both the technical side of horticulture as well as the therapeutic benefits and is motivated to provide outstanding services to seniors living in their own homes.
The Garden Aid Team Leader leads a team of volunteers in bringing gardens back to a stage where they are attractive, can be enjoyed safely and are easy care for seniors who have limited support from family and friends and can no longer garden themselves.
Inner West Neighbour Aid is a not for profit community organisation, established for over 30 years that provides help around the yard, social outings, workshops, exercise classes, intergenerational connections, centre based groups, dog walking and home visiting for seniors living in the inner west. Neighbour Aid also maintains the 5 Senses Garden in Rhodes Park, Concord West in partnership with the City of Canada Bay Council. The 5 Senses Garden is an inclusive green space that promotes involvement in nature, veggie pods, culture and play. The organisation is primarily funded under the Commonwealth Home Support Programme and other grants.
This position offers:
Pay rate at Level 3 Pay Point 1 under the NSW Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award 2010 (SCHADS) Award.
2 working days per week (equivalent to 30 hours per fortnight) on a permanent part time basis, available week days between 7am and 5pm. With a view to growing into 3 days per week and potentially 4 days per week, depending on service demand.

Essential Selection Criteria:
Qualifications in a relevant discipline (or currently studying), including Certificate III in Horticulture, landscape design, nursery production.
Experience or interest in the horticulture industry.
Experience or interest in the aged or community care sector, social and therapeutic horticulture.
Ability to work with minimal supervision as well as lead a small team of volunteers.
Excellent communication, organisational and time management skills.
Moderate computer skills and willingness to undertake further training if required.
Strong understanding of Workplace Health and Safety.
Full COVID-19 vaccinations including available boosters, or willingness to obtain.
Senior First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake same.
Current NSW Drivers Licence.
