Hussey Corp is a locally owned and operated business based in Weipa & Cairns, QLD who deliver a wide range of services expanding from Heavy Industrial Electrical, Civil Construction, Construction Project Management, Civil Concrete Construction and Plant & Equipment Hire.

We are currently recruiting an experienced Project Manager to join our growing project management team.

The position will be based out of our office space in Weipa or Cairns. Weipa local applicants will be highly regarded, although FIFO arrangements from Cairns can be made for the ideal candidate.

You will be the main point of contact with our client, so professionalism and a friendly nature is essential.

Responsibilities:

Management of the operations to deliver the divisional and corporate strategic objectives.

Responsible for the overall performance of the division and customer relationships.

Delivery of safety compliance and improved safety performance.

Commercial oversight to ensure business performance is predictable and delivers dependable results.

Recruitment, selection and training of staff to ensure that staff retention is maintained.

Oversee the division’s forecast works to ensure a strong pipeline of work and adequate resources (equipment and personnel) for upcoming works (+2 weeks to 3 month horizon).

Maintain relationship with the tendering team for all upcoming and potential work.

The Ideal Candidate:

Qualifications in Construction, Engineering, Finance, Business Management or a related discipline.

Proven leadership skills and management of large multi-disciplined teams (100+ employees)

Strong understanding of HSE best practice and compliance.

Established ability to build strong and trusted relationships with key stakeholder groups including clients, suppliers and communities.

Manage and deliver high quality advice and assistance to staff to ensure the workmanship delivered to clients and external stakeholders is of a high level and consistent.

High level planning and strategic thinking skills with the ability to set priorities and manage complex workflows across multiple work fronts.

Sound commercial knowledge including the ability to interpret, understand and execute contracts.

Scoping, planning, scheduling, budgeting and forecasting; and High level of self-discipline, self-motivation, energy and initiative.

Requirements:

Cert IV or Diploma in Project Management (highly regarded)

G189 & G2 Mining Supervisor Certificates (previously S123)

Valid QLD Electrical Licence

Manual Drivers’ Licence

CPR/LVR (valid for 1 year)

Computer literacy skills using MS packages including Excel and Projects

Ability to pass a pre-employment medical

Self-motivated with a positive attitude

Ability to travel to various site locations as required

Desire to work in remote locations; and

Have a hands-on approach.
