Position Purpose
In this role, you will manage end-to-end payroll for our workforce across multiple sites, while also handling key finance and accounts tasks including supporting payables and receivables, month end tasks and reporting. The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, working knowledge of relevant Awards, and experience in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll
Process end-to-end payroll on a weekly/fortnightly basis in line with Fair Work requirements
Interpret Awards correctly (e.g., Cleaning Services Award, Hospitality Industry General Award) including penalty rates, overtime, and allowances
Maintain and update employee payroll records and timesheets across different sites
Submit Single Touch Payroll (STP) and handle superannuation, PAYG, and other statutory obligations
Handle payroll adjustments, leave calculations, and termination payments
Address payroll-related queries in a timely and confidential manner
Monthly and financial year-end payroll reconciliation
Worker compensation related tasks including renewal and annual actual wage declaration
Supporting payroll tax monthly lodgement and annual payroll tax reconciliation lodgement
Accounts & Finance
Assist accounts payable: processing invoices, payments, and supplier reconciliations if required
Assist accounts receivable and follow up on client invoices and payments if required
Manage daily and fortnightly P&L
Assist with general ledger reconciliations and monthly reporting
Perform bank reconciliations and maintain financial accuracy
Perform month-end tasks
Provide finance admin support to the broader team as required
Required Qualities
Proven experience in payroll and accounts, preferably in service-based industries
Proficiency in accounting, AP and payroll systems (e.g., Employment Hero, Xero and Lightyear)
High attention to detail and accuracy
Strong organisational and time management skills
Excellent communication and problem-solving ability
Qualification in Payroll, Bookkeeping, or Accounting (desirable)
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping or higher accounting degree (required)
Additional training or certification in Payroll Administration (e.g. Australian Payroll Association short courses) is highly regarded
Familiarity with Fair Work legislation, Superannuation, and Award interpretation
Experience
Relevant experience in similar role within hospitality industry is considered ideal.
Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a similar payroll and/or accounts role
Experience processing end-to-end payroll, including award interpretation, leave entitlements, and terminations
Background in accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger support
Previous experience working in high-volume, multi-site environments (e.g. cleaning, hospitality, labour hire) is highly regarded
