About the role:
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the contractual and commercial aspects of construction projects, ensuring compliance with contract terms, managing risks, and supporting project delivery within budget and timeline constraints.
This role involves close collaboration with project managers, subcontractors, clients, and suppliers to maintain strong contractual relationships and drive project success.
Key responsibilities:
- Contract Management: Prepare, review, and administer contracts, including head contracts, subcontracts, and supplier agreements, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
- Cost Control: Monitor project budgets, track variations, and manage claims to ensure projects remain financially viable.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date contract documentation, including correspondence, change orders, and progress reports.
- Risk Management: Identify contractual risks and propose mitigation strategies to protect the company's interests.
- Subcontractor Coordination: Administer subcontractor agreements, including progress claims, variations, and dispute resolution.
- Client Liaison: Act as a point of contact for clients regarding contractual matters, ensuring clear communication and timely resolution of issues.
- Compliance: Ensure all contractual obligations, including insurance, bonds, and regulatory requirements, are met.
- Reporting: Provide regular reports on contract status, financial performance, and potential issues to senior management.
- Dispute Resolution: Assist in resolving disputes or claims with clients, subcontractors, or suppliers in a professional and timely manner.
About you:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in contract administration within the construction industry, preferably with projects valued up to $10 million.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in contract management software (e.g., Procore, Aconex) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of construction contracts (e.g., AS4000, bespoke contracts), procurement processes, and industry standards.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and build relationships with stakeholders.
- Analytical Skills: Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze contractual and financial data to support decision-making.
- Problem-Solving: Proactive approach to identifying and resolving contractual issues efficiently.
- Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment with cross-functional teams.
Desirable attributes:
- Familiarity with local construction regulations and standards.
- Experience with cost forecasting and value engineering.
- Certification in contract management or quantity surveying (e.g., AIQS, RICS) is a plus.
