Role Description

You will work under the guidance of the Lead Electrical Engineer to achieve technical outcomes across Jevons' platforms.

You will play a role in the design, development, testing, and deployment of electrical components and systems for Jevons' robotic platforms and ensure that they meet functional, reliability, safety, and industry standards. You will execute all development life cycle stages with engineering process and diligence.

While this role is primarily electrical, you will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team and will need to be systems-oriented and mechanically aware. The opportunity will arise to be involved in the mechanical design aspects of the robots, as well as coding and control. As such, this role will suit someone looking for a comprehensive robotics design experience.

Duties and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities and duties of the role include:

Design and Development: Design electrical systems relevant to battery-operated electric vehicles, including safety, battery charge management, motors, and control systems. These systems will comply with relevant EV, mining, and electrical industry standards. The opportunity to explore and contribute to other engineering fields will also present itself.

Documentation: Operating within a disciplined development lifecycle, you will prepare detailed technical documentation including requirements, system specifications, detailed design, testing procedures, and manufacturing documentation.

Hands On: This role is involved in the development of robotics from the requirements stage through to manufacture and support. This includes a hands-on approach to building prototypes and executing validation processes, while maintaining meticulous Configuration Control and adhering to rigorous engineering change management.

Collaboration: Your ability to communicate across disciplines is essential to your success in juggling multiple design stakeholders. A cooperative team spirit and a “can do” attitude will complement your technical skills.

Minimum qualifications for this role:

Bachelor’s Electrical Engineering (preferred) or Mechatronics Engineering.

1-3 Years of Electrical Engineering Experience.

Familiar with CAD tools for electrical design (e.g., Rapid Harness, KiCAD).

Working conditions

The main working location is Jevons Robotics corporate headquarters located in West Perth.

Large blocks of time (weeks or even months) will be spent building and testing prototypes. Construction of prototypes is conducted at a facility in Bibra Lake. Testing of prototypes is conducted at the Australian Automation and Robotics Precinct at Neerabup. In-person support of these activities is essential.

$90k - $100k + super
