The City of Gold Coast has multiple permanent positions available and is seeking experienced Building Compliance Officers to join our team! This role is crucial in investigating and enforcing development compliance, ensuring the city's growth aligns with legislative requirements and best practice standards.
What you’ll be doing:
Conducting inspections and investigations to assess compliance with building and development legislation.
Engaging with residents, developers, and government agencies to ensure clear communication of regulations.
Researching and interpreting legislation, policies, and records to provide informed recommendations.
Preparing detailed reports and correspondence, ensuring compliance with business processes.
Taking enforcement action when required to uphold legislative requirements and the City when deemed appropriate.
What We’re Looking For:
A Bachelor’s Degree in Building Surveying or equivalent industry experience, previous government experience will be highly regarded.
A strong understanding of statutory compliance, development approvals, and enforcement procedures.
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills to work effectively with stakeholders.
Knowledge of the Planning Act, Building Act, and Building Code of Australia is highly desirable.
Experience in building compliance, or other relevant fields with additional experience in Regulatory Enforcement highly regarded.
A positive and energetic outlook and enjoy working within a team.
Excellent level of documentation and written communication skills
The ability to prioritise and manage numerous investigations.
A valid Class C Unrestricted Driver’s Licence
