What does the business unit do?
Emergency Management is a statutory entity and is part of the Department of Justice and Community Safety. The work of the group supports the emergency management sector to work together and to strengthen the capacity of individuals, communities, government, agencies and business to achieve our shared vision of safer and more resilient communities and to rebuild and recover after an emergency.
EM Tech & Data
EM Technology and Data is responsible for both national and state telecommunication and technology platforms that enable communications to and from the community, sector operational communications and sector information systems. The EM Technology and Data business unit is responsible for delivering the following the key functions of: Strategy & Enterprise Architecture; Investment Planning; Support & Development; Trust Management and Procurement and Contract Management.
What will the role do?
Play a crucial role in developing and managing our software portfolio focussing on the new Emergency Sector Integration Platform ensuring that it meets the needs of our customers and community.
Key tasks include:
- Develop and communicate a clear product vision and strategy in alignment with EM Technology and data strategy.
- Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and customer feedback to identify opportunities and threats.
- Define product roadmaps and prioritise features to ensure product success.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, designers, and QA, to deliver high-quality products on time and within budget.

What skills and knowledge should the Emergency Sector Integration Platform Manager have?
As our ideal candidate, you will have:
- Proven experience as a Product Manager in the software industry working with outsourced Managed Service Providers (MSPs).
- Deep understanding and passion for software and technology.
- Strong service management experience for application service delivery on cloud platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork
- Experience with agile development methodologies including coordinating sprints and releases with MSPs
- Experience managing backlog prioritisation with platform owners and reporting plans and progress.
- Familiarity with project management tools and product management software.
- Background in technology management for mobile, cloud and network.
- Experience with JIRA and Service Now management tool implementations. Agile software delivery
- More than 5 years' experience within a Product Manager or Senior Product Manager role with experience managing multiple vendors across a range of products is highly desirable
- Experience working cross collaboratively with internal teams is desirable
- Attention to detail and great communication skills
