The Royal Victorian Aero Club (RVAC), Australia’s oldest and most respected flying club, is offering an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated Apprentice Aircraft Maintenance Engineer to join our maintenance team at Moorabbin Airport.
The Role:
As an Apprentice Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, you’ll receive hands-on training and mentoring from experienced licensed aircraft maintenance engineers (LAME's), learning to maintain and repair a range of general aviation aircraft, both operated by the Club and privately owned aircraft.
This is a full-time apprenticeship role ultimately leading to a nationally recognised qualification as Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in scheduled maintenance, inspections, and repairs on general aviation aircraft and components
Learn to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues
Maintain accurate maintenance records in accordance with CASA regulations
Support the engineering team with day-to-day operations
Training and study of aircraft maintenance and regulatory requirements necessary for accreditation as an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer
Assisting the team to ensure a safe and compliant hangar facility
Maintaining a detailed apprenticeship journal

What we’re looking for:
A genuine interest in aviation and aircraft engineering/maintenance
Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn
Minimum completion of Year 11, but ideally Year 12 or more
Good communication skills and a team-player attitude
Australian citizenship or permanent residency, with full work rights in Australia
Demonstrated commitment to safety and compliance in the work environment
A self-starter with a strong work ethic
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Good level of eye and hand coordination skills
Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Pre-Employment:
Prior to any offer of employment, the successful applicant will be required to undertake the following checks:
Aptitude Testing (Literacy & Numeracy)
Drug & Alcohol Testing
National Police/Criminal History Check
Ability to hold and maintain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)
Have full working rights in Australia
Hold a current driver’s licence
Successfully completed Year 11 or greater
