About the Role
An exciting opportunity currently exists for an experienced Patient Services Clerk to join our friendly team at the Cancer Centre in Fitzroy on a permanent part time basis. You will be responsible for providing effective and efficient customer service to our patients, other departments within the hospital, external agencies and the general public.

To be successful you will have excellent communication skills, demonstrated organizational skills with knowledge of hospital operations and systems. You will need a minimum of 2 years administrative &/or reception experience and proven computer skills preferably within the health industry. Orientation and comprehensive training will be provided to the successful candidate

Duties

• Accurately enter patient admissions, attendances, discharges, appointments in the Patient Administration System
• Complete all relevant admission paperwork.
• Ensure all discharges completed by end of shift, and patient records are filed ready for return to HIS.
• Ensure all outpatient appointment and transport is organised
• Provide administration support by sorting mail, filing, photocopying and other duties as required.
• Accurately enter electronic billing for MBS clinics and ensure GP referral.

The classification for this position will be HS1 - HS17 ($58,442 - $64,610 per annum pro rata)

Skills and Experience

• Experience in the health industry
• Knowledge of private health fund billing
• Knowledge of public health funding
• Knowledge of Patient Administration Systems
• Demonstrated communication skills, written and verbal
• Ability to provide an Australian National Criminal History Check or willing to obtain

Working collaboratively with our specialty units and multidisciplinary teams, Our team of patient services clerks supports our Cancer Centre Clinics and our Chemotherapy Day Unit which also includes our apheresis unit and symptom and urgent review clinics .
