About the Role

As the Senior Contracts Officer, you will act as first point of contact in the response to contract related queries and incidents, prepare, review and negotiate contractual documentation and provide support in relation to policy queries and with the execution and filing of contracts.

Some of the key position responsibilities are:

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts and contract related correspondence on either the University precedents or on third party paperwork.
  • Ensuring that all contracts are approved and executed in accordance with the University's policies and procedures and the University's financial delegations.
  • Providing contract administration services including filing contracts on the Contract Management System, record keeping, generation of reports, drafting memoranda and other correspondence and arranging for the finalisation and execution of contracts and other related tasks.
  • Liaising with stakeholders and staff across the University to promote and provide education on compliance with relevant contract related policies and procedures.
  • Provide a key first point of contact to Colleges and Portfolios to support, guide and educate university staff to address audit items, implement new regulations and identify, manage and report on operational risks and risk incidents.
  • Conducting information searches and responding to and making determinations on Freedom of Information (FOI) requests in accordance with the FOI Act

About You

Having completed a degree in a relevant field with subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education and/or training, you are well versed in contract drafting, review and administration.

Your exceptional verbal and written communication skills, and high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office software, along with excellent time management skills will be the keys to success in the role.

Some of the key position capabilities of the role are:

  • Demonstrated experience as a lawyer or paralegal or proven ability to undertake contract reviews including the drafting, negotiating, reviewing and administration of contracts and related documents in a complex environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, exercise significant initiative and judgment in interpreting a range of policies and procedures and work with a broad range of stakeholders such as academic and professional staff.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary tender and procurement processes.
  • An understanding of Risk Management principles and experience in the Higher Education sector are desirable.
