Project Officer
Talent Pool for filling of current and future ongoing and temporary vacancies

Location: Hunter Central Coast District - Newcastle based
Grade 7/8 -
$110,266 -$122,058 p.a. + superannuation and annual leave loading
Flexible work practices flexible working hours, 35-hour week and flex leave

Functions of the Allocations Team

The Allocations teams is one part of the District's Executive and Business Support Team. The allocations team is specifically responsible for:

  • Management of workflow of all correspondence into and out of the district and providing information to a variety of areas including the Executive District Director, Deputy Secretary, Secretary, NSW Ombudsman's office, Complaints Unit, Reportable Conduct Unit and the Minister's Office.
  • Review and quality assure critical incident advice, financial briefing notes, NSW Ombudsman and Ministerial requests.
  • Draft district communications including emails and newsletters
  • Assist with the coordination of district special events

What you'll do

As a Project Officer within the Allocations team

You will:

  • Prepare reports, briefs and coordinate resources
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders
  • Guide and support district staff to achieve outcomes via support and mentoring
  • Be confident in drafting materials to be distributed across the district
  • Have excellent skills in written communication, preparing and reviewing ministerial and other correspondence
  • Have a demonstrated ability to analyse and critique documentation and information from a variety of sources
  • Have a basic knowledge of machinery of government and procedures and systems required for the management of ministerial correspondence, briefings and parliamentary material
  • Have advanced skills in using Microsoft office including Outlook, Word and Excel, Miniapp and One TRIM
  • Knowledge of the NSW child protection system including direct work with families will be highly regarded.

  • Highly resilient and able to work under pressure and manage competing priorities
  • Ability to understand and adhere to Legislation, Policies and Procedures
  • Ability to plan and prioritise workload with attention to detail

Appointments are subject to reference checks and the following pre-employment checks:

  • National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014
  • Working with Children Check clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012
