Job description:

At the NSW Department of Education, we educate and inspire lifelong learners - from early childhood, through schooling to vocational education and training.

  • Temporary Full-Time role up to 16 October 2028
  • Location: Eveleigh with flexible work arrangements
  • $137,742 Package - includes salary $110,266 - $122,058, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

About the Role

  • Conduct high-quality economic analysis for school infrastructure projects.
  • Manage cost-benefit analysis frameworks.
  • Provide expert advice and coaching on technical and quantitative analysis.
  • Build and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
  • Innovate and apply new techniques for rigorous analysis.

As an Economics Project Officer at School Infrastructure NSW (SINSW), you'll conduct cost-benefit analyses and provide strategic insights to ensure high-quality education facilities are built for all NSW students. You'll work closely with stakeholders and contribute to the largest public education infrastructure investment in NSW history.

About You

  • Economics or financial analysis experience essential
  • Proficient in cost-benefit analysis and data-driven recommendations.
  • Proven ability to provide authoritative advice and build stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrated understanding of public education values and Aboriginal Education Policy.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department's Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department's Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the values of public education.

As a condition of employment, successful candidates who have not previously worked for the department will be required to provide a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance number. This option would allow the WWCC to naturally expire without further communication needed with the employee. The employer obligations under the WWCC would apply for duration of the WWCC's validity (up to 5 years)
