About the role
This role provides engineering support across all aspects of asset management, including the maintenance, design, construction, and modification of infrastructure assets. It also involves managing third-party access to the PTA rail network to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with PTA and regulatory requirements. The Civil Engineer plays a key role in contributing to asset reliability and branch performance, while supporting general business functions such as risk management, policy development, performance reporting, and continuous improvement. Promoting a positive safety culture and maintaining high technical standards are also central to the role.
In addition, the Civil Engineer offers technical guidance on designs, drawings, and documentation, while overseeing maintenance, inspections, testing, and third-party works on PTA assets. The role supports the development and review of technical standards, work instructions, and compliance with engineering best practices. It also contributes to the delivery of asset renewal programs, either by supporting or acting as a Project Engineer to ensure that PTA infrastructure projects meet operational needs and long-term goals.
About You!
To excel in this role, you should possess:
A Civil Engineering degree (or equivalent) recognised by or eligible for membership with Engineers Australia. Strong knowledge of civil engineering practices with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Proven experience in delivering civil engineering support across planning, design, maintenance, and construction in an operational, asset-intensive environment. Demonstrated application of asset management frameworks and strategies.
Demonstrated experience in leading and supporting teams to achieve agreed outcomes, with a focus on collaboration and performance.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear technical reports, negotiate effectively, and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Well-developed analytical and problem-solving abilities, with strong planning and organisational skills to manage complex issues and meet deadlines. Demonstrates a commitment to personal development and safety leadership.
