About the Role
We are seeking a qualified Chef who will play a key role in the planning, preparation, and execution of dishes that meet our standards of quality and presentation. This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen and enjoys leading and mentoring others.
✔️ Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Venue Manager, the Chef will be responsible for managing all aspects of kitchen operations, including food preparation, staff supervision, menu design, inventory control, and food safety. This position requires a skilled culinary professional with strong leadership, time management, and organisational skills.
Kitchen Operations & Culinary Leadership
Plan, develop, and execute a seasonal and consistent menu aligned with the brewery's brand and customer expectations.
Supervise kitchen staff and delegate tasks efficiently to maintain service standards during peak trading hours.
Lead food preparation and cooking, ensuring consistency in presentation and quality.
Monitor portion sizes and food cost control measures to ensure kitchen profitability.
Food Safety & Regulatory Compliance
Ensure compliance with all food safety and hygiene regulations as outlined by state and national authorities.
Oversee cleanliness, maintenance, and correct handling of all kitchen equipment and utensils.
Conduct regular food safety checks and staff training on health and hygiene procedures.
Stock & Supplier Management
Order and manage stock, ensuring availability of fresh and quality ingredients while minimising waste.
Maintain supplier relationships and oversee deliveries, stock rotation, and storage.
Monitor inventory to ensure alignment with menu needs and cost objectives.
Team Training & Development
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff and apprentices.
Promote a positive team culture and ensure staff performance aligns with business expectations.
Manage rosters and contribute to staff development and retention strategies.
✅ Skills & Experience Required
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a commercial kitchen environment and at least 1-year relevant experience as a Chef
Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent
Proven ability to manage kitchen operations and lead a team
Strong understanding of food hygiene, workplace safety, and industry regulations
Excellent communication and time-management skills
Ability to work under pressure, across multiple tasks, and during peak service hours
Flexible availability, including weekends, evenings, and public holidays
