DHA was established in 1988 following passage of the Defence Housing Australia Act 1987 (DHA Act) to provide adequate and suitable housing for, and housing related services to, members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and their families. We remain committed to our purpose of providing housing, and housing related services, to ADF members and their families to support Defence’s operational needs.
DHA manages an expanding portfolio of housing solutions and provides housing for over 17,200 ADF members and their families and administers rent allowance for more than 16,000 ADF members and their families in private rental accommodation. DHA provides housing related services advising on eligibility, providing posting support, and managing bookings and allocation services for all DHA provisioned housing and on-base accommodation to approximately 60,000 ADF members.

About your team
This role reports to the Business Analyst Team Lead within the Business Solutions and Technology (BS&T) business unit. BS&T are responsible for all software related business analysis, business solutions, software development, telephony, IT services, infrastructure and cyber. We deliver business as usual activities and innovation driven initiatives that provide efficiencies to the broader organisation. BS&T supports project management, business contract fulfilment, staff development, productivity increases and enhanced customer service.
About the role
Reporting to the Business Analyst Team Lead, and in line with DHA strategic objectives, the Business Analyst has the following key responsibilities:
- Acquire and apply detailed knowledge of DHA’s business capabilities and familiarity with DHA’s Enterprise Applications to commence work quickly and effectively
- Prepare and Facilitate workshops and interviews with a variety of stakeholders and apply critical thinking with the elicitation of requirements and validate your understanding of current state processes
- Complete and document analysis of current state processes including personas, process mapping, pain point elicitation and identification of potential process re-engineering opportunities
- Analyse, interpret and compose business rules and requirements into acceptance criteria within user stories
- Facilitate collaborative solution design workshops within a multi-disciplinary team so that subject matter experts, developers and testers can contribute to the outcome
- Document the agreed design into functional specifications and other technical documents while offering specialist advice to improve implementation and business process improvement. Ensure that the solution addresses the business requirements captured in the acceptance criteria
- Support the creation of basic testing criteria for the documented solution, including investigation and resolution of system problems early in the development process
- Contribute to Enterprise Change Management (ECM) activities by preparing content and presenting at showcases that enables user adoption of system changes to both internal and external stakeholders
- Actively contribute to the development of the Business Analysis role within DHA by participating in BA meetings and providing insights related to ways of working, templates that are utilised and lessons learned from previous analysis activities
