This organisation is a high profile, medium sized Commonwealth agency with a diverse portfolio known for their interesting subject matter and varied accounting.

With a number of internal promotions / acting opportunities, a vacancy has arisen with a clear agenda to drive over the next 12 months.

The Opportunity

This role is offered as a 12-month non-ongoing contract opportunity (view to permanency) or a 6-month labour hire, under a long term and well regarded Commonwealth SES Finance cohort that we have worked with for many years.

Your experience will be highly valued, and you will be asked to assist with a number of key finance and business projects during a period of transformation and change.

You will inherit a strong performing team and help uplift staff capability, including contractors.

This role will add excellent value to your CV with this team having an outstanding track record and reputation in Canberra.

The Role

The role focusses on leading the finance business partnering / divisional finance unit, and you will have stewardship of a small to medium sized team of staff.

You will work very closely with Senior EL2s and SES leaders of the Agency, as well as closely with the Internal and External Budgets teams.

The team is largely Canberra based though works across national offices (meaning remotely managing some of your team), and there is a healthy/balanced culture of working in the office and from home.

The Ideal Person

You are a professionally qualified accountant with a strong technical background, who has progressed into management roles. You are now an experienced EL2 Director, ready for your next challenge. Perhaps you're looking to return to the APS after time in consulting or contracting, or you may already be a contractor seeking your next EL2 labour hire role, one where you can truly add value.

You will have strong stakeholder engagement capabilities, well-developed analytical skills and are an APS management accounting specialist.

Salary / Rate

• $145k - $165k + enhanced Super
• Only Australian Citizens will be considered for this role and a Baseline clearance will be required once in the role
• Ability to work from home two to three days per week
