Grow focuses on younger, ambitious wealth accumulator clients. Less than 5% of our clients are in the pension phase. This focus enables us to deliver a high-quality SMSF solution very efficiently.
We work directly with SMSF trustees, and although financial advisers and other accountants may refer clients to us, we don’t specifically cater to other professionals. Most of our clients find us organically, meaning we are not dependent on any one source of new business, which helps ensure our continued growth.
Our clients are evenly split across assets such as shares/ETFs (ASX + US), direct property, and crypto. Almost all our clients use the same cash accounts (Macquarie, ANZ V2 PLUS).
Most share/ETF investors are split between a few popular brokers, and likewise, our crypto investors. Again, this commonality enables an efficient approach to completing SMSF accounts with enough variety to ensure the work doesn’t get stale.
We also have a modern and bespoke client portal, which has added another layer of efficiency to our business and means less time chasing clients for documents and information and more time getting work done.
About the Position
You will be responsible for a portfolio of SMSF clients (up to 500). You must ensure the annual SMSF accounts are completed in alignment with our quality control processes and lodgement program.
You will be required to communicate with SMSF trustees daily. As their Account Manager, you will be the person they contact when they have a question regarding their SMSF.
This role involves completing some SMSF accounts yourself. Over time, the focus will shift to reviewing the work of at least one intermediate accountant with a larger number of SMSF accounts to prepare.
Responsibilities include:
Completing SMSF accounts using Class;
Responding to SMSF trustee enquiries that come via email, chat and phone;
Reviewing jobs completed by intermediate SMSF accountants and providing feedback, training and support;
Liaising with clients about queries;
Working with our independent auditors;
Completing non-accounting services including pension work, contribution strategies, tax planning and advice, changes of trustees, BDBNs, related party transactions etc (no financial advice).
The main KPIS we track for our Account Managers are completed jobs (number + on-time %) for your SMSF portfolio, as well as Net Promoter Score(NPS).
In summary, this role involves a mix of communication and relationship management and "on-the-tools” SMSF accounting work.
Where required, Grow will provide and secure suitable computer equipment. Candidates must provide their own screens. Multiple screens are essential (salary sacrifice options are available).

The remuneration includes a 2.5% training allowance, which you can put towards your professional development.
About You
Strong client communication skills (both written and verbal) are essential, as is the ability to work with a team to deliver the work for our SMSF trustee customers.
Relationships are a focus, both internally with the accountants you oversee and externally with the SMSF trustees you’ll be working with.
You must have previously worked in a senior SMSF accountant role or SMSF manager role. On average, our Account Managers have more than 10 years SMSF experience.
Formal qualifications (CPA/CA/SMSFA) are not required, but they are favourably considered. Specialised experience and a genuine passion for SMSFs are essential.
Strong computer skills are essential, especially in Excel/Google Sheets. We use A.I. tools in our business ,every day including for communications, data analysis and formatting and for technical research.
This role provides flexibility and would suit someone who is performance-driven and wants to complete valuable work that fits into their life rather than their life needing to fit into a rigid work schedule.
Being a 100% work-from-home role, this position is not suitable for people who enjoy:
A highly sociable work culture;

No forks in the team kitchen;
Meetings that could have been emails.
