St John of God Murdoch Hospital is one of the leading private health campuses in Western Australia, and major health care hub in the southern region. Offering 507-beds, services include an emergency department, operating theatres, endoscopy suites, birth suite and maternity ward, medical library and education center.
Your role
You will be responsible for the operational management of the allied health teams and services for the hospital. This position will have both leadership, management responsibilities and may carry a clinical caseload.
Our multidisciplinary team of Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Dieticians, Speech Pathologists, Podiatrists, amongst other health professionals, help patients recover from injury, illness or surgery. Together the team will set individual plans and goals that may include disease prevention and control, nutritional health, physical and mental rehabilitation, to help get patients back to their best possible health.
The Position
- Manage the day-to-day operations of allied health services, ensuring that they are consistent with the Divisions strategic and operational objectives to deliver connected and consumer focused health care.
- Ensure that the workforce is rostered effectively to enable expert clinical services within the Clinical Services Plan and productivity forecasts.
- Monitor key performance and financial indicators and takes appropriate action to address variance.
- Use advanced clinical knowledge and experience to develop, evaluate and improve allied health services and to assist the various allied health professionals to develop new services to meet changing needs and demands.
- As part of the hospital's senior clinical leadership team, you will work in partnership with other clinical units to ensure clinical and business objectives are met.
- Participate in Manager Meetings as well as relevant committees and working parties.
- Develop and maintain mutually beneficial relationships with relevant internal and external professional groups to build and enhance service delivery on a divisional and group-wide basis.
- Be accountable for the human, financial and physical resources of the allied health services to meet best practice standards, service delivery and safe patient outcomes in an accurate, efficient and effective manner.
- In collaboration with Human Resources, implement caregiver and industrial relations policies, including managing disciplinary matters and grievances in accordance with group-wide and divisional policies, to ensure good caregiver relationships.
- Be responsible for the strategic development of allied health services and contribute to the overall strategic planning and development, including involvement in service expansion.
- Provision of an active clinical caseload as needed.
- Ensure that the Allied Health caregivers work within a multi-disciplinary approach to care, continued high quality and clinical excellence.
You will have demonstrated knowledge and ability to provide leadership in a complex, professional work environment and influence the achievement of required outcomes in areas of professional responsibility. You will have proven ability to implement new initiatives, actively market and promote the allied health services provided by the hospital with the ability to facilitate and manage change.
To succeed you will hold a relevant tertiary qualification in an Allied Health discipline and registration or membership with the relevant Board or Association as required. Significant contemporary experience in a senior Allied Health clinical position will be essential for the role. Working towards or holding post graduate qualifications in Management will be highly regarded.

- Salary: $147,995 to $156,145 per annum, plus 12% superannuation
