One ongoing vacancy is available

Are you passionate about evidence-based policy and social justice? Join us in delivering meaningful change for communities across the Northern Territory.

We’re seeking a Principal Evaluation Officer to lead evaluation and monitoring activities under the Aboriginal Justice Agreement (AJA). This is a unique opportunity to shape initiatives that strengthen the Northern Territory’s criminal justice system, in partnership with Aboriginal communities and key stakeholders.

About You

You are a strategic thinker with a strong track record in program evaluation. You’re comfortable navigating complex stakeholder environments and thrive when making sense of data to inform real-world outcomes.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:

Proven leadership in evaluation projects, with a strong track record in managing complex initiatives from planning through to delivery. You will bring highly developed project management skills, with the ability to juggle competing priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver meaningful insights through evidence-based analysis.

Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills, enabling you to collaborate effectively with a broad range of people, including senior government executives, Aboriginal organisations, and community leaders. You will be confident facilitating discussions, writing clearly and persuasively, and adapting your communication style to suit diverse audiences.

Exceptional organisational judgment, with a deep understanding of how to navigate culturally and politically sensitive environments. You will be attuned to community dynamics and capable of applying a culturally respectful and inclusive approach to your work.

A high level of personal accountability and autonomy, with the ability to work independently and respond proactively to challenges. You thrive in dynamic environments, showing initiative, flexibility, and resilience.

Discretion, integrity, and professionalism, particularly when handling sensitive or confidential matters. You bring a diplomatic approach to problem-solving and relationship-building, earning trust and respect from stakeholders.

A strong working knowledge of the Aboriginal Justice Agreement, including a clear understanding of the systemic and historical issues affecting Aboriginal people’s engagement with the criminal justice system in the Northern Territory.

What’s next?

If you meet the criteria and are looking for a role where your expertise will directly support systemic change, we encourage you to apply. Please submit your resume along with a brief cover letter addressing the selection criteria.

This is more than just a job — it’s a chance to contribute to lasting, community-led reform across the Northern Territory.
