The Aboriginal Areas Protection Authority is seeking a Legal and Policy Officer you will be providing advice and support in relation to legal and policy issues relevant to the work of the Authority and in line with the Northern Territory Aboriginal Sacred Sites Act 1989

Key responsibilities include:

Provide timely, efficient and accurate legal and policy advice on matters relevant to the work of the Authority.

Undertake research and analysis on legislation, policy and operational matters.

Prepare legal instruments and other correspondence.

Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge of relevant areas of the law and of relevant practices and procedures.

Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Consult with a wide range of stakeholders including Aboriginal custodians, Aboriginal Land Councils, government agencies, landowners, proponents in the agricultural, mining, oil and gas sectors, and developers of public and private infrastructure.

Organise work so as to manage priorities effectively and meet deadlines.
