As a Senior Planning Engineer for Power Systems, help create future energy plans and strategies for Horizon Power.. In this pivotal role, you’ll be responsible for planning how electricity is generated and delivered across Horizon Power’s unique and diverse service area. From transmission and distribution planning to assessing the impact of emerging tech like solar, batteries and EV’s. Your work will influence the future of energy in the Pilbara region.

Your role at a Glance

Design the blueprint for Horizon Power’s future energy network – from generation to transmission to distribution.

Run power system simulations and perform power system studies using PowerFactory, HOMER, and other tools to solve real world energy problems, with a focus on customer needs, their energy usage and how we can support.

Lead planning for new customers connections and shape network investment strategies.

Study the impact of renewables, batteries, and EV’s on grid stability, power quality and supply. Help identify future projects like solar, batteries, land needs, and ways to grow the Pilbara energy systems.

Work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to turn technical insights into action.

What You Bring to the Team

Extensive and proven experience in energy planning and power system engineering.

Skilled in generation, transmission, and distribution networks across diverse systems.

Experienced in energy modelling and analysis tools, including PowerFactory and HOMER, for system studies and generation optimisation.

A natural problem solver who thrives in complexity and can turn modelling into meaningful, strategic decisions.

Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.
